Weekly Diaries

Week 1…

I have decided to go ahead and stick with the Progressive House genre. I haven’t followed my plan. However, I knew that I would do this as I didn’t need a week to complete The History, The Technology and The Characteristics of Progressive House. I had completed it within a few hours, so I have now redone my plan. On Thursday I started my research on the Artists of Progressive House. On Friday I have continued my research on the artists of Progressive House and will review my work. I have decided to add more detail into my work.

I have create a name, TRU3. Not much effort went into this name, all I did was look at some house artists and look through a couple of websites about creating a names and looked at some forums, at home and their was some ideas like; Mu – short for music. I looked on some name generators and it asked some questions to help make a background on your name, like one question: what genre of films do you like, what type genre of music do you like. I answered Action, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, House & Progressive House. It generated something like, TRI. I didn’t like the name but liked the idea. So TRU3,  for TRU3 Music, TRU3 House, etc. I have also made an album cover for my song. {See Below.}

Week 1 Reflection…

4th May 2018

I need to rethink my plan as I haven’t followed it and have completed week 1 and 2 in week 1. I need to start to send emails to people who I want to collaborate with in my track. I think I need to add more detail into my work as I don’t think I will meet the criteria to get a merit or distinction. I need to come up with some ideas about a song name and lyrics to follow along with it. I need to add more original ideas into my blog, i.e: Instead of writing loads, add more videos and add a couple of unique things into the blogs. I need to get feedback on my research from my tutor and my peers.

Week 2…

I have changed my plan again, I decided to bring my draft making forward a week as I need to start to create ideas for my final piece. I have decided to change my collaboration aspect of my track again it wouldn’t have a sounded like the genre I have chosen. I was previously going to have a guitarist play over my song but after listening to some progressive house tracks, its all programmed in through MIDI. So I then decided to ask some singers, as it fitted the genre, however I can’t locate a vocalist that sings in the correct tone, pitch and add their own characteristic to the track. So I have gone away and tried to think another form of collaboration on my track.

This is my First Draft, I have decided to call my song Fantasy, as I want my song to sound very magical, with lots of Synths and build-up to match the genre.

 

Week 2 Reflection…

11th May 2018

I need to rethink my plan again. I need to really think about the collaboration side of my track as its a distraction to my work rate. I still need to add more detail into my work as its doesn’t fit criteria to get a merit or distinction. I have create a ‘melody/bassline’ that I will use in my final draft. I need to add musical re-creatations  into my blog as its not enough the start to create my final piece. I still need to get feedback on my research and now my draft from my tutor and peers. I am happy with my work rate and time-schedule, but still have some outstanding work to complete.

Week 3…

I have now managed to someone to collaborate with. I have emailed them and asked them to add their own style of Progressive House onto my track and I will release it with them.

I have gone through my research and decided to try get it from a pass grade to something higher. I will being doing more drafts on Friday 18th, May. and week 4

The is my third Draft, I have not included my second draft as it is a less mixed version of my this one. I am going to use this draft a starting point for my final piece.

Week 3 Reflection…

18th May 2018

For once I have stuck to my plan this week and have been productively working on thing throughout the week. I have now got my collaboration sorted and will make progress with them later in the weeks as I need to start creating my final draft. I have added more detail into my work and need to re-do one of blog posts as there is some major factual errors in there. I need to add more musical re-creatations into my blog as its not enough evidence. the feedback I have received is decent and will help towards my final grade. I am happy with my work rate and still with the time-schedule I have allocated myself.

Week 4…

In this draft I have made, I have added some more instruments, however the more I listen to it, the more I dislike this Draft. So in my final Draft I will most likely remove them.

I have almost finished my final draft, I need to wait for my collaborator to get in touch for when he is ready for my piece. after, I receive his piece I will begin to mix our pieces into a track.

I have updated my plan again as I have now brought my final draft forward a few weeks. After I release the track, I will make a new blog post and talk about how I created my track and show the techniques.

I have re-done my blogs as some of them was corrupted and managed to get previous saves. I have also taken the time to customise my blog and get everything re-sorted.

My collaborator has now finished their piece and I will review it on Monday 4th June and prepare it for release. I have chosen to release my track after the half term on the Tuesday 5th June 2018.

Week 4 Reflection…

25th May 2018

I have completely revamped my plan and have brought some task forward a few weeks as I would have an couple of weeks where I have nothing to do. I now have nothing to do in week 8. My collaboration has know been finished and will being mixing it after half-term. I still need to add more musical re-creations into my blog as its not enough for evidence. I need to gather more feedback for the last couple of weeks. I am happy with my work rate and I now have lots of time free if anything is needed to be done.

Week 5…

I have finished my final draft, I have also mixed, balanced & panned it for the effect of the song.

I had an issue with some of the instruments chosen, as it was making the song sound wrong, after trying to solve the situation I managed to fix the problem which was some instruments had a delay effect.

I have released my song Fantasy on Thursday 7th June 2018.

Week 5 Reflection…

8th June 2018

I am currently ahead of my plan by 1 week. I have nearly finished my entire FMP, all I need to do is “Beef up” my research a bit. My collaboration has been very successful, I gave Nu my up-to-date version of my project, I then let him get on with it and let him work as I had faith in him and new he would create some great. I think the collaboration aspect of my project was successful because I let him know what was happening, the communication over e-mail was very poor, however because he sits ext to me I was able to communicate with him verbally. I can now start my research again because I was more focused on releasing my song and getting it finished then continuing with my research. I am very happy with my work rate and I can now spend the rest of my time finishing my research. I need to send some e-mails to Nu to thank him for collaborating and sending him the final piece.

Week 6…

With my song now finished, I am relieved with a lot of time, Ive had some tutor feedback and it helped me as I knew my research needed more info and I managed to change, add and remove anything that needed it.

My weekly diaries will become less and less as I am coming to an end of the FMP.
