Bibliography

To compare my research I have used:

Primary Sources Secondary Sources

A Primary Source is a first-person account of a subject. Whereas a Secondary Source is someone that speaks about a subject but they wasn’t there to witness it.

One piece of Primary Source I have used (Below), describes the key elements of Progressive House

‘Progressive house is based on the melody of the synthesizer lead and its repetition. The tempo averages around 125-130 BPM, with 128 BPM being the most common. The drum beat is simple; a 4/4 kick drum is used to keep the track in time, claps are placed on every second beat (sometimes on every beat) and closed hi-hats are often placed between the kick and clap (rhythmic patterns vary).’

The reason this is primary is because it is a quote straight from the writers head. This is mostly reliable because it hasn’t been altered by anyone else.

One piece of Secondary Source I have used (Below), is a biography about the DJ/ Producer Zedd.

Born Anton Zaslavski in southwest Germany, Grammy-winning electronic producer Zedd broke onto the European dance scene in 2010 with a remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.”

The reason this is a Secondary Source is because it is a Biography of Zedd. This is a great secondary source, as the website AllMusic.com are very reliable. However, due to it not being a Primary Source there could be some untruthful information.

Comparing the Sources I have used they have been very useful. I found that Primary Sources are much more reliable than Secondary Sources. However, the Secondary Sources are very useful to back-up research and provide more evidence towards the research. Another, reason why Secondary Sources are very useful is because they can be used for Cross-Referencing.
